Tyler Perry, the renowned filmmaker and media mogul, has entered into a new multi-year first-look film deal with Netflix. Under this agreement, Perry will write, direct, and produce feature films exclusively for the streaming giant. This deal marks a continuation of Perry's recent forays into streaming, following his November 2022 agreement with Amazon Studios to create four films for Prime Video.

Perry's collaboration with Netflix isn't new; he has been actively involved with the platform over recent years. His upcoming projects for Netflix include "Six Triple Eight" and "Mea Culpa." "Six Triple Eight," executive produced by Kerry Washington, who also stars in the film, tells the compelling true story of the only Women’s Army Corp unit of color stationed overseas during World War II. "Mea Culpa," featuring Kelly Rowland and Trevante Rhodes, revolves around a criminal defense attorney embroiled in a complex case. Perry's previous works for Netflix include the Humanitas Prize-winning "A Jazzman’s Blues," the 12th installment of his billion-dollar Madea franchise, "A Madea Homecoming," and the thriller "A Fall from Grace."

In addition to these film projects, Perry's personal journey is set to be showcased in "Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story." This documentary, directed by Gelila Bekele and Armani Ortiz for Amazon Studios and Bekele Films, is scheduled for its world premiere at the AFI Fest as the centerpiece film. The premiere is slated for October 27 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
