TIKTOK STRIKES PARTNERSHIP WITH SPOTIFY AND AMAZON MUSIC TO LINK APP DIRECTLY TO MUSIC STREAMING SERVICES

TikTok has introduced a new feature, “Add to Music App,” which significantly enhances the integration between the popular short-form video platform and major music streaming services. This feature allows TikTok users to save songs they discover on TikTok directly to their preferred music streaming service, including Amazon Music, Spotify, and Apple Music.

The implementation of this feature marks a strategic partnership between TikTok and these streaming giants. It's designed to streamline the music discovery and listening experience for users, bridging the gap between short-form video content and full-length music tracks on streaming platforms.

The "Add to Music App" feature is initially rolling out in the U.S. and UK, with plans for expansion to other markets. TikTok, renowned for its role in music discovery and trendsetting, sees this as an opportunity to further leverage its influence in the music industry. According to Ole Obermann, TikTok’s Global Head of Music Business Development, this feature creates a more direct link between music discovery on TikTok and music consumption on streaming platforms, benefiting artists and rights holders through increased engagement and potential revenue.

This collaboration is a significant move for TikTok, especially considering it operates its own premium streaming service, TikTok Music, in several markets. TikTok Music, with a range of social music streaming features, is designed to work closely with the TikTok app, offering functionalities like syncing accounts and exploring viral TikTok songs.

For Amazon Music and Spotify, this partnership represents an innovative way to convert momentary discoveries into longer-term listening experiences and potentially stronger artist-fan connections. According to Karolina Joynathsing from Amazon Music, this feature will make it easier for fans to listen to the music they love and for artists to build their fan base. Similarly, Sten Garmark from Spotify emphasized the importance of creating effortless ways for users to save songs and enjoy them across any platform or device.

The "Add to Music App" feature appears as a button next to a track name at the bottom of a TikTok video, offering a seamless way for users to add songs to their streaming service playlists. This development is a testament to the growing synergy between social media platforms and music streaming services, aiming to enhance user experience and engagement in the digital music landscape.
