Vice President Kamala Harris has made a remarkable debut in her presidential campaign, raising a record-breaking $81 million within the first 24 hours of her candidacy announcement. This unprecedented fundraising feat follows President Biden's withdrawal from the race, injecting fresh momentum into the Democratic campaign landscape.

The impressive total encompasses contributions across Harris’ campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and joint fundraising committees. Notably, over 888,000 grassroots donors contributed during this period, with 60% of them making their first donation of the 2024 cycle. Additionally, 43,000 individuals have committed as new recurring donors, with more than half pledging weekly contributions.

Kevin Munoz, a spokesperson for Harris' campaign, highlighted the broad and diverse support fueling her campaign: "Already, we are seeing a broad and diverse coalition come together to support our critical work of talking to the voters that will decide this election. There is a groundswell behind Kamala Harris."

The influx of donations, coupled with the transfer of Biden’s nearly $96 million campaign fund to Harris on Sunday, positions her as a formidable contender. The surge in financial support will be crucial as she aims to solidify her position as the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee and energize her campaign heading into the election.
